The Faculty at Maritime Business College are qualified teachers or skilled
professionals who meet the required instructor qualifications set out in the Private
Career College Regulation Act. All of our instructors impart invaluable knowledge
that only comes from first hand experience.

Susan has a Level TC5 N.S. Teaching Certificate and has
been part of the MBC Faculty for over twenty five years. She
teaches Accounting, Bookkeeping, Computerized Accounting,
Business English, Records Management, Office Procedures,
and Human Relations. Susan has also been a teacher with Halifax
City Continuing Education where she taught introductory
accounting to adults between 1986 and 1996 .

A former Partner in the firm, Sealy, Cornish & O'Neill, John now has his own law practice. He has been a member of the Nova Scotia Barristers' Society since 1986. As an instructor in the Advanced Management Centre, Dalhousie University, he was responsible for course development in Economics and Law. John has lectured regularly at both Mount Saint Vincent and Saint Mary's Universities, and has taught the legal programs at Maritime Business College since 1989. As well as teaching, he maintains and revises our Paralegal Program to insure its content remains germane.

Deborah is an internationally recognized information technology trainer who has taught at various public and private sector organizations since 1991. She is an entrepreneur and for the past 13 years has operated her own IT training business. In addition to teaching, Deborah has also written white papers and training manuals at multiple levels. When she’s finished her busy day at MBC, Deborah volunteers as an instructor for the “Hire a Military Spouse” program for the Canadian Armed Forces.

Jack teaches the Small Business Entrepreneur program at MBC. A native of Boston, Jack has held sales, advertising and marketing management posts in both the United States and Canada. He is a graduate in Economics from Boston College and the University of Toronto Advanced Management course. Jack has lectured in marketing and business at Centennial and Ryerson Colleges, Universities of Toronto, Acadia and Saint Mary's. Jack currently volunteers at Northwoods, on the Board of Governors.

Lara is a graduate of Maritime Business College and recently returned home to Nova Scotia from the west coast. After many years working as a secretary, she has spent the last 10 years developing courses and teaching at private and public colleges on Vancouver Island, British Columbia. Lara is also a life-long learner; several years ago she earned her BC Provincial Instructor’s Diploma and Masters of Education Degree. When she’s not teaching business technology courses, Lara enjoys teaching dance and fitness-related classes and playing with the dogs and cats that she and her husband own.

Dr. Schrage teaches the veterinary-specific component of our Veterinary Assistant Program. She graduated from the University College of Cape Breton with her Bachelor of Science degree majoring in biology and the University of Prince Edward Island with her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine. She is a veterinarian who specializes in small animals and exotics and practices at a small animal hospital in the local area. She was the recipient of an NSERC scholarship (1999) and the Veterinary Software Publishing Award for excellence in Client Communications (2004). She also holds memberships in the NSVMA and the CVMA .

Julie is the Director of Esthetics and Principle Instructor at our New Minas campus, MBC School of Esthetics. Julie has over 22 years of experience in the esthetics profession, including 17 years as an accomplished instructor of Advanced Esthetics. She has several years experience in resort spa management and has owned and operated her own small business, Julie's Esthetics Boutique.

Stacey is the Director of Admissions at Maritime Business College and MBC School of Esthetics. Stacey has over eleven years of experience working with students in a private career college setting. She has over nine years of admissions and recruiting experience, as well as two years in Student Services. In her spare time, Stacey enjoys spending time at the curling club, golf course and “running” the roads of HRM.
