But this summer, you’ll likely see a lot more than that.
The Easter Seals Drop Zone was started in Halifax in 2005, and has since become a nation-wide fundraising event. The goal is simple: participants register to raise money in support of Easter Seals— a charity organization dedicated to providing assistance to individuals with physical, intellectual, sensory and learning disabilities– and when the goal is met, they rappel down one of the tallest buildings in Halifax.
That’s right: rappel.
Think of the window washers, but without the catwalk to stand on.
This year, we’re proud to hear that several of our Corrections and Law Enforcement students have registered as a team to participate in The Easter Seals Drop Zone: Meaghan Hackett, team captain, is joined by classmates Marcia Sweeney, Stacia Comeau, Kayla Knott, and Brady Gilby with the goal of raising $1,250.00 each (for a team total of $6,250.00) by August 7th, 2021.
It takes a lot of courage to rappel down the tallest building in the city, but they’re dedicated and willing to help a good cause.
Want to help the team? Just go to their team page, and then select one of the team members to donate to: once all members have their goals met, on August 7th you’ll find them on the side of 1801 Hollis!
